Happy day to you, friends!
I’d like to invite you into the conversation we’ll be having tomorrow morning as a part of our regular Sunday meditation and discussion group. Our topic for tomorrow is:
How do we make conscious, centered decisions?
Every Saturday I put out a reminder to the folks who attend our meditation and discussion groups about Sunday morning group, and the topic if there is one. I’ll put today’s reminder below for you to consider if you want to. It contains some questions about decision making that are well worth exploring, I think. If you’d like to participate in the conversation, I’d love to see you there! In that case, just let me know and I’ll provide the necessary information. Either way, tomorrow after group I will offer my own answer to that question, and perhaps as well some things I learn or become aware of in tomorrow morning’s discussion.
Be well, friends, and have a beautiful day!
In peace,
David
Here’s the reminder I sent out about tomorrow morning’s group:
“The way I see it, everything is spiritual practice. Every aspect of our lives needs our awareness and attention: every decision we make; everything that we do or don’t do; every intention and motivation; every sensation; every perception; every thought…. Everything is something to practice with, and everything can teach us how we cause ourselves to suffer, and the way to reunion with our authentic nature.
There are a number of sorts of things we tend to explore in practice. Some of them are psychological; some of them are mystical; sometimes we explore the old and traditional Buddhist teachings together; and sometimes we take a look at practical things.
The topic of our group tomorrow morning is in that last category. And amongst the practical kind of worldly, material things we practice in our efforts to live well and authentically in this life, this one carries a high level of importance: I think: how to make centered, conscious decisions.
In between now and tomorrow morning, if you feel so moved, you might consider:
What is the process by which a conscious, centered decision is made? (In other words, how do you do that?)
What is the process by which a conditioned, self-centered, ego-involved decision is made?
What’s the difference?
How does our practice aid us in making decisions from the most aware place possible? And what do we need to let go of in order for that to happen?
I look forward to discussing these things with you tomorrow morning! Meditation and group will begin at 10:00 eastern, as usual.
See you there!
In peace,
David”
